How do I look after my jewellery?

Jewellery is best stored separately in an air tight bag or container to reduce tarnishing. Items such as hand sanitiser, cosmetics, creams, perfumes and hair products can accelerate the tarnishing process. Try to avoid contact between your jewellery and these types of products. Chlorine, salt water and hard water can be especially harsh on the surface of jewellery. Jewellery shouldn't be worn in water and taken off for sport or physical activities. Sometimes sterling silver or gold may discolour skin, leaving a greenish mark. This is not harmful and is due to the base metal (usually copper) within sterling silver or gold reacting to the acid in your skin. The discolouration is easily washed off with warm soapy water. All jewellery is completely handmade and isn’t plated with rhodium, so it may tarnish quicker than similar items you have. A soft dry polish cloth will bring back the sparkle. Bottlebee jewellery is made with recycled silver and gold with sustainable, ethical practices, and should be looked after so it can become an heirloom piece that can be handed down through generations.

Can my jewellery be altered?

If you have bought a silver or gold ring from Bottlebee, I will adjust the ring +/- 2 sizes at no additional charge (excluding postage). You can find out how to get an accurate ring size here https://www.bottlebee.co.uk/post/how-to-get-the-correct-ring-size If you would like to customise or put your own twist on a piece of jewellery you've seen, and have it tailored to you, please get in touch. I will work with you to make a bespoke piece of heirloom jewellery you will love forever.

Is jewellery sustainable?

Sustainability is at the heart of my jewellery, with every aspect of its design and creation carefully considered. In order to reduce the carbon footprint and reduce newly mined silver and gold from circulation, I use UK suppliers that are committed to manufacturing gold and sterling silver ethically using recycled gold or silver. I will also melt gold and silver in house so it is more sustainable. Give your broken, unwanted or inherited sentimental gold jewellery a new lease of life.

Will my jewellery be hallmarked?

Silver jewellery over 7.78g will be hallmarked. 9ct gold and 18ct gold jewellery over 1g will be hallmarked. Platinum over 0.5g will be hallmarked. Palladium over 1g will be hallmarked. If you would like a hallmark on any piece of jewellery that is underweight you can purchase the 'Hallmark' listing.
